Ukrainian poet, translator and literary critic.
Born in 1978 in Lviv, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University with a degree in Bulgarian language and Literature (2000). Since 2004, he has been working there at the Department of Polish Philology.
The author of ten poetry collections, the author-compiler of the documentary book “Dictionary of War” (2023). He translates from English, Bulgarian, Macedonian, and Polish, among others, novels by Polish Nobel laureate Olga Tokarchuk and Bulgarian Booker Prize winner Georgy Gospodinov. He also translated from Belarusian the books by Uladzimir Arloŭ, Ihar Babkoŭ, and Artur Klinaŭ. One of the compilers of the Anthology of Modern Belarusian and Ukrainian Poetry “Connectiongap” (“Зв’язокрозрив / Сувязьразрыў”, 2006).
Ostap Slyvinsky’s poems, criticism and essays have been translated into more than twenty languages. The book “Dictionary of war” appeared in Belarusian translation made by Iryna Hierasimovič in 2023.
