Ylva Gripfelt (b. 1985) is based in Malmö. She made her poetic debut in 2023 with the collection The Divine State (Det gudomliga tillståndet), a work exploring the relationship between parent and child, power and powerlessness, language and silence. Her second collection, One Weeps (Man gråter), due in spring 2026, is described as a lesbian love story, a dead-serious play on language and a tragicomic tribute to the broken heart.
Gripfelt has published numerous essays, including a piece on Belarusian-Jewish connections explored through a 2020 Yiddish interpretation of Lavon Volski’s protest song, Ya naradziusia tut. She is currently translating a work on the life and poetry of Belarusian-born Yiddish poet Anna Margolin (forthcoming winter 2026) and has previously translated poems by Romanian poet Mihók Tamás into Swedish via English.
For several years, she has taught creative writing, primarily at the Writers’ School at Lund University.
