Marius Burokas is a poet, literary critic, and translator. He was born on April 30, 1977, in Vilnius.
He graduated from the Department of Lithuanian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University. He is a member of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union and the Lithuanian Literary Translators’ Association.
He has received numerous literary awards for his achievements in poetry and literary translation.
He is the author of the poetry collections Ideograms (1999), States (2005), Learned Not to Be (2011), Pure Being (2018), and Seismograph (2025). He has translated into Lithuanian works by Charles Bukowski, Allen Ginsberg, Hunter S. Thompson, Samuel Beckett, and others. Together with Dainius Petrošius and Laurynas Katkus, he is one of the coordinators of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union’s humanitarian aid initiative for Ukraine. He lives in Vilnius.
